Online classes are not for everyone. However, if you cannot attend a face to face class online may be a great option to upgrade your skills.
Requirements for online:
1. You need a computer and internet connection for all classes. A high speed connection is helpful but not required.
2. DRAFT45 and DARFT46 require AutoCAD software. Student versions are available for around $146 for a one year license or $346 for a continuous license.
3. DRAFT125 require Solidworks software. Student versions are available for under $100.
4. You must be able to complete assignments on your own, without direct supervision.
How Online Classes Work
The Online classes use a mix of screen capture demonstrations, power point presentations, and textbook reading to convey information.
Screen capture examples:
AVI Files
Flash Files
Students ask most questions on a bulletin board on the class web site
Drawings and assignments are turned in using a "Drop box," which is similar to an e-mail attachment.
Grades are posted in an online grade book.
Only registered students have access to the class web site.
